What does the $349 price include?
It is the starting price Your Roof Restoration publishes for whirlybirds supplied and installed. It is not a whole-of-house package. The quote confirms the roof type, how many vents it needs, storeys and access before you agree to anything.
What does a whirlybird actually do?
It draws hot air out of the roof space. Wind turns the head, so a standard unit does not need a power point and does not add a power bill of its own. It is not an air conditioner. How much cooler the rooms feel depends on the house, the insulation and how the vents are placed.
Can you match the colour to my roof?
Yes — that is part of this offer. Tell us if you want a finish close to the roof, a light metallic, or a dark one. We confirm the colour we can supply when we quote, so you are not guessing on the day.
Will it work on tile and Colorbond?
We install on tiled roofs and on metal roofs, including Colorbond. Tile and metal are fixed and sealed differently. That is why the roof type is the first thing we ask.
How many whirlybirds does my home need?
It depends on the roof, not on a set number. We look at the size, the high point and what is already up there, then tell you what we would fit. You can say no.
Where do you put them?
Near the highest point of the roof, where hot air gathers, and clear of trees and power lines. We screw the unit down, keep the flashing watertight, and check that it can spin freely. A vent that cannot spin does not move air.
I could buy one from a hardware store. Why call a roofer?
The unit is the easy part. The leaks and the vents that never spin usually come from the hole, the flashing and the position. We are roofers. We install it as part of the roof, not as an add-on left sitting on the tiles.
Do I have to be home?
For the quote call, no. If we need to see the roof before locking a price, we will say so. Most of the work is outside.
How soon can you install?
We will tell you the next day we can offer when we quote. We do not hold a fake countdown on this page. Summer is simply when an Adelaide roof space copes with the most heat, so it is a sensible time to ask.
