Roof valley flashing

Valley flashing is a common type of roof flashing that is used to seal the roof where two sloped surfaces meet. The valley flashing goes in the valley, or low point, of the roof and overlaps the tiles on both sides. Aluminium or galvanised steel is what most valley flashing is made of. Flashing is also used around places where the roof goes through, like vents, skylights, and chimneys. Base flashing goes around the bottom of the hole, and step flashing goes up the sides. Counter flashing goes on top of the base flashing and is usually made of a different material, like lead or copper.
